Warmbad

The spa resort Warmbad, district of the mountain town Wolkenstein, is situated beautifully at the heart of the central Erzgebirge.
The Warmbad source was discovered due to silver mining in 1385.
Since then the health resort went through a vibrant history from a famous pilgrimage site to a recognised bath for Princes to a miner’s sanatorium.
In 1997 Warmbad received a new certificate “resort with curative spa service” as the first health resort in the Free State of Saxony. With a temperature of 26,5 °C the Warmbad source is one of the warmest of its kind. It is ideal for the treatment of illnesses of the musculoskeletal system and cardio-vascular diseases due to its unique combination – the thermal water contains important minerals, especially sodium hydrogen carbonate and fluoride.
The infrastructure of the health resort was since the nomination entirely redeveloped.
Already in 1997 the Bundesknappschaft (public German health insurance) opened a rehab centre in Warmbad for in-patient treatments, further treatment, further education for the industrial injuries corporation
(BGSW) and self-payer treatment. The modern clinic with a capacity of 166 beds provides state-of-the-art technology in diagnostics and therapy, e.g. bone density measuring, 3-D-spinal measuring and more
The Silver-Thermae Warmbad, the heart of the health resort, offer a variety of health and spa treatments for day guests, spa visitors, ambulatory guests and prescription patients. The sauna facilities and the spa area “fountain of youth”, which was opened in 2004, are very popular.
The spa gardens with its lake and concert area were also fully reconstructed between 1997 and 1999. The concert area is being used for numerous cultural events in spring and summer. The thermal water can also be used for drinking cures in the drinking pavilion. Discover the close-by mountain town Wolkenstein with its historical centre. Wolkenstein Castle, the town’s landmark, is located on a steep rock above the town of Zschopau. The surrounding areas have the reputation for being a hiking paradise.
