Kirnitzschtal –Clinic Bad Schandau

The fully handicapped-accessible Kirnitzschtal clinic is situated in the heart of Saxon Switzerland. It was built in 1993 and renovated in 2002. The clinic was founded on the compound of an old Kneippspa resort. The historically relevant parts of the building were preserved and now combine the aura of 100-year old tradition with the offer of a modern rehab clinic.

Diagnostics

The individual and profound diagnosis is the basis for a successful treatment. The following apparative treatments are available at the Kirnitzschtal-Clinic: X-ray, sonography and Doppler-sonography, Osteodensitometry (full-body-bone density measuring with DPX-IQ), computer-aided isokinetic measuring and testing system (Cybex), resting, exercise and prolonged-ECG, spirometry, clinical laboratory, manual diagnostics, work and stress test, evaluation of the functional performance according to Isernhagen

Site-specific therapies

The Kirnitzschtal Clinic is open Mondays to Saturdays and on all holidays that are not on a Sunday. Each patient receives an individual treatment plan which is personalised to their needs. It will contain a balanced time frame with a selection of the following therapies:

Capacity and equipment

During their stay at the Kirnitzschtal Clinic patients reside in a single room or in a double room with their partner with shower/WC, cable TV, telephone, partly with balcony and open view onto the spa gardens or the nearby forest. 170 of the 210 beds are functional hospital beds, which are reserved for further treatment-patients and handicapped patients. A fully handicapped-friendly room with a wheelchair-accessible shower is available on demand.
The clinic also provides all relevant therapy types. This includes amongst others 2 swimming pools, medical training therapy, and various aerobic rooms. The service also includes a cafeteria, reading room, TV and lecture room, hairdressers, cosmetics, foot care, a crafts room as well as dry cleaners

Location

Bad Schandau is situated at the estuary of the river Kirnitzsch into the Elbe, in the middle of the nature reserve “Saxon Switzerland”. It is the oldest tourist destination in the region. The town has a lot to offer: marvellous scenery of original beauty, bizarre rock backdrops on table mountains, large loess plains, romantic valleys, broad forests with well-accessible hiking trails and the Tuscany Thermae with its Liquid Sound® concept.
Visitors will find tranquillity and relaxation romantic facilities in the newly designed spa gardens, situated between Kirnitzschtal Clinic and the town centre.
The magnificent Elbe promenade with a fantastic view on the rocks of the “Schrammsteinkette” creates a harmony with the medieval town centre that is worth seeing.
